Resolve Law san Diego

PROGRAM ENDED JANUARY 31, 2021

When the pandemic closed down our courts, our civil bar came together to brainstorm on ways that we could assist the civil justice system. After much discussion, including input from the Court, we created RESOLVE Law to provide free mediation and referee services to civil litigants. We recruited 274 neutrals, raised the funds to make the program entirely web-based, and handled 110 cases in 8 months, all for free! The San Diego County Bar Association, the Bar Foundation, and many other local and affinity bars came together to support and promote the program. Collectively, many hundreds of hours were donated to the RESOLVE Law effort. The success of RESOLVE Law is a direct result of the entire community coming together for the common good and is reflective of the historical commitment the San Diego legal community has to public service and civility.
RESOLVE Law gained national attention and was the inspiration for several states to start similar programs of their own. However, the program was always meant to be temporary and with great pride in its success, the program was closed on January 31, 2021. We would like to thank the San Diego County Bar Foundation for its support and for immediately stepping in to help make this idea a reality. We would also like to thank all who participated in the program.

Disclaimer: RESOLVE Law San Diego is a volunteer effort in the San Diego legal community designed to provide help and assistance to civil litigants, given the delays and backlog in the civil justice system imposed by COVID 19. Various legal organizations and groups have pledged to support and/or endorsed RESOLVE Law.  None of these endorsing organizations/groups bear any liability or responsibility for RESOLVE Law San Diego or the services provided by the volunteer neutrals who operate through RESOLVE Law, and all users of RESOLVE Law acknowledge and agree to the same. All users of RESOLVE Law also understand and acknowledge that the volunteer neutrals are acting in a quasi-judicial capacity and have the attendant immunities. As a purely volunteer effort, RESOLVE Law does not carry insurance of any sort for the program or its volunteer neutrals, and does not require volunteer neutrals to carry insurance.
